Quick answer
The DELF speaking section is an individual interview with a jury, marked out of 25, and its tasks grow with the level: a short guided conversation at A1 and A2, a role-play and a short presentation at B1, and at B2 a ten-minute defence of a position drawn from a document, followed by a debate with the jury.
What each level asks
A1 and A2: a guided conversation about yourself, a short exchange of information and a role-play in an everyday situation. B1: a guided conversation, an interactive role-play and a three-minute presentation of your opinion on a short text. B2: thirty minutes of preparation on a short document, then a ten-minute structured presentation of a position and a ten-minute debate in which the jury challenges it.
How to practise
Preparation time is short and the jury interacts, so practise speaking from a one-line plan rather than a script, and rehearse answering objections. Recording yourself against the official sample topics, then having the recording evaluated, is the fastest way to find what the jury will mark.
