TEF Canada exam topics: August 2026

Exam format · NCLC

These are the 4 themes candidates reported from the TEF Canada sessions of August 2026, one entry per section with what the format asked for and a note on preparing it. They are not the official questions: they are the families of topics that keep coming back, to practise under timing before your own session.

  1. Listening

    Customer-service calls and news briefs

TEF listening often stacks short items — pace yourself.

  2. Reading

    Opinion columns and administrative forms

    Track who/what/when in multi-paragraph texts.

  3. Writing

Argumentative short essay + transactional note

    Clear thesis sentence before examples.

  4. Speaking

    Interview-style Q&A with follow-ups

Answer, then expand once — avoid one-word replies.

Next step: build a Path around the sections where these themes felt hardest, then alternate timed Studio with Memo vocabulary.
